Eccles Ladies

About the team:

Eccles Ladies are the premier women’s rugby team in Greater Manchester and we have been a part of Eccles RFC for over twenty years.

Last season we once again consolidated our position in Championship 1 North, the second tier of women’s rugby in England. Eight of our players were selected for Lancashire, who went on to win the County Championship, and we also had a player represent Scotland.

Training is twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays,19:30-21:00. For season 2017/18, this commences on Tuesday 04.07.2017. Separate strength and fitness sessions will be arranged at times and days to suit.

New players are always welcome; just turn up on the night or alternatively you can contact the Captain, Igemi (07834 158242), Head Coach, James (07791 227616) or Team Manager, Nina (07796 382547) for more information. Alternatively, look us up on on social media via FacebookTwitter and Instagram.

If you’re looking for something a little more social, are new to rugby or returning to play, we also have a Ladies 2nd XV. The 2s don’t rely on friendlies for matches, they play in National Challenge 2 NW and have lots of fun playing rugby. You can find out more about ‘The 2s’ here

About the Author:

My name is John ‘Max’ Maxwell and I am the MD of RuckinRugby, a website design and hosting company focused on all things Rugby. Rugby is a huge part of my life and after meeting Catherine Spencer some years ago, I became interested in the women’s game at the highest level.

The World Champion team of 2014 were something very special and I immediately became aware of how important our domestic game would become in maintaining the sort of national side that I, and many others love to watch. This inspired me to do whatever I can to promote Women’s Elite Rugby in England.
