Bristol Bears Women is an aspirational club offering players the opportunity to develop and grow within a welcoming environment. Our first team compete in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15’s, while our development squad are in the RFU Women’s A League.
The club employ a high calibre of coaching staff in former Red Rose, coach Kim Oliver.
The squad of over sixty players boasts a wealth of talent, from Team GB Olympians, International Stars and BUCS champions, through to a development squad of committed individuals from across the South West.
In the summer of 2017, Bristol Bears Women had a total of fifteen players competing at the Women’s Rugby World Cup representing England, Wales and Ireland.
The first XV continually strive to compete for the title in the Tyrrell’s Premier 15’s alongside some of the best clubs in the country, in the 2016/2017 season Bristol Bears Women finished runners up in the Women’s Premiership.
Players are not only Bristol based, but travel from Exeter, Gloucester, Wales and Swindon to play for Bristol Bears. The club train and play their fixtures at Shaftesbury Park, Bristol.
Bristol Bears Women, sponsored by Astra Communications and Thatchers Cider, partnered with Bristol Bears in order to develop the women’s game in the region. The affiliation has enabled Bristol Bears Women to develop professional standards and promote the sport at a time when popularity and media exposure is increasing.
Our club is welcoming and supportive, providing opportunities for women of all standards to reach their rugby playing potential through our two teams and our sister club programme.
