TEAM ANNOUNCEMENT

Wasps travel to Darlington looking for successive wins

This weekend Wasps will be looking to build on some strong results as they travel to Darlington Mowden Park Sharks. Following a dominant performance at the Ricoh Arena last week, the black and gold face a difficult test up in the North East. With 6 changes to the starting line-up, Wasps will need to win to ensure they keep in touch with the leaders.

Irish international Cliodhna Moloney is set to make her first start for Wasps since joining in the summer, she’ll be joined in the front row by Hannah West who moves to prop and Kate Hallett.

Both Amy Wilson Hardy and Katie Mason return to the backline, with Lizzie Goulden regaining the starting jersey at fly half, after coming off the bench last week.

Claire Molloy, who has scored four tries in her opening three appearances, replaces Nora Baltruweit who is on international duty for Germany.

Mica Evans & Kendall Templeman could both make their first appearances of the season for the 1st side off the bench. Both have impressed in the undefeated development side who play at 3pm on Saturday.

Wasps have picked up good results so far against sides lower in the table than them, with big victories over Bristol, Firwood and Worcester. However, they have fallen to two defeats against the top two sides. Last week the hosts put five tries past Richmond in front of a huge crowd at the Ricoh Arena.

Darlington Mowden Park Sharks currently lie in seventh position in the table, with wins against Worcester on the opening day and Richmond two weeks ago. Last week the Sharks felt the full force of a strong unbeaten Loughborough side, as they fell to a 59-3 loss.

The game will take place at the Northern Echo Arena as part of a double header with the men’s side. Wasps will be looking to spoil to party, as the home side hosts their annual Ladies day prior to the game.

My name is John ‘Max’ Maxwell and I am the MD of RuckinRugby, a website design and hosting company focused on all things Rugby. Rugby is a huge part of my life and after meeting Catherine Spencer some years ago, I became interested in the women’s game at the highest level.

The World Champion team of 2014 were something very special and I immediately became aware of how important our domestic game would become in maintaining the sort of national side that I, and many others love to watch. This inspired me to do whatever I can to promote Women’s Elite Rugby in England.
